The Mullan Public Library is located in Mullan Idaho, nestled deep in the “Panhandle” of the beautiful mountains of North Idaho. From the windows of our library, patrons can enjoy breathtaking views around our small town, always accompanied by LOTS of snow during the winter months.
Our library is a warm and inviting place to go in any season. It is located on the main level of the Morning Club, which was built in 1921 by the Morning Mine. The Morning Club is now owned by the City of Mullan. Several rooms of this historic building are often available for community or special events, including senior dinners. In addition to an adult fiction room, the library offers an area for juvenile and young adult readers, and a “kid-friendly” atmosphere for our youngest readers who usually take a few minutes to enjoy some puppets and a few games while they browse through the books.
We are very proud of our reading room, which houses the adult nonfiction and a variety of reference materials. This includes our impressive collection of books related to Idaho and local history. In November 2012 the Idaho Collection was dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Evelyn Smith, who spent many years volunteering her time and expertise to make our library the best it could be. Patrons enjoy the reading room, especially on a blustery day when they can warm up by the fireplace as they catch up on their reading.
The library offers a comprehensive variety of print and nonprint items for all ages and genres. These include books, books on tape, DVDs, VHS videotapes, and CDs. Computers and internet access are available for patron use. Wireless access is available during library hours.
Because the library is part of the Cooperative Information Services Network (CIN), all library cards issued by any member library are honored here. Through CIN we can also better serve our patrons through the interlibrary loan program, which allows patrons to order materials from other libraries with a short turn-around time. Other libraries can request our materials as well. Finally, patrons can now take advantage of ordering Digital Books (E-Books) through the Online Catalog.
