WHAT ARE THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY UP TO THESE DAYS?

On Saturday, February 17th, David Bishop is holding a Music Fest of many bands at the Morning Club in Mullan, to celebrate his birthday!  He has generously offered to turn over all donations to the Mullan Public Library and the Mullan School District band.  In addition, the Friends of the Mullan Library are holding a 50/50 raffle throughout next week.  Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.  The drawing will be held on Saturday, February 17th, after the music stops.  The winner will receive 50% of all tickets purchased with the remaining amount turned over to the Friends of the Mullan Library.

If you want to purchase tickets prior to Saturday, you may inquire how to do so at the library or through a Friend of the Mullan Library.  Tickets may also be purchased at the Morning Club on Saturday until the music stops.

Happy Birthday, David!  And thanks once again for being a strong supporter of our library!

The Friends will be planning to meet on Monday, February 26th, for their annual meeting.  This meeting will follow directly after the Mullan Library Board Meeting, which is scheduled for 6 P.M.  At the meeting, officers will be elected, and the Friends will discuss the next major fundraiser:   the Spring Soup & Pie Feed/Book Fair.

The Friends group is a very vital part of the Mullan Library.  They raise money and give support to the library.  It is very important that we get more people interested in the Friends group, especially in planning the fundraisers.  The group is in danger of folding if we cannot get more people interested.

Please plan on coming!  You can make a difference!

Birthday Calendars have been picked up or delivered with the exception of a few.  Thanks to all of you who purchased a calendar or ads -- you helped fund the library's CIN fee for the next year!

EXACTLY WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF THE MULLAN PUBLIC LIBRARY?

The Friends of the Mullan Library is an organization established to help the library meet important needs and emergency expenses.  The Friends can legally solicit and accept donations and grants of money to help the Mullan Library cover expenditures that are not addressed in the Library's budget.  A few examples are blinds for the windows, additional shelving, computer replacement, and computer maintenance.  Some of the important fundraisers that are sponsored by the Friends include the Halloween Carnivaltwo Book Fair & Soup & Pie Feed fundraisers held in spring and fall; the Hamburger/Hotdog booth at the Summer Firemen's Fun Festival; and the Birthday Calendar Project that covers the annual CIN fee, which is a substantial expense.  One year the Friends also had a booth at the "Under the Bridge" fair over Labor Day to benefit the library.

If you would like to join the Friends or come to the next meeting, please call a librarian at 744-1220.  The current president of the Friends and primary contact is Valerie Douglas.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY, PLEASE CALL TAMARA OR DANIELLE AT 744-1220 AND WE WILL GET YOU CONNECTED!  IT'S A LOT OF FUN, AND IT'S FOR A GREAT CAUSE!

We are often asked about the shelving in the Adult Fiction Room. This beautiful work was done by our friend and library volunteer GARY AZEVEDO several years ago.  He also constructed the Idaho History collection bookcase and memorial to Mrs. Evelyn Smith, in the Reading Room, and made many other improvements to the library.  We will always appreciate Gary's time and workmanship, and his creative touch will always be seen and appreciated throughout our beautiful library. We miss him....
